Trees Study

Why do we investigate trees?

Trees fascinate children and spark their curiosity and wonder. Close your eyes and think of childhood memories that involved trees.  Did you ever climb a tree?  Did you play chase and hide behind a tree?  Did you lay down under a tree and wonder whether it touched the sky?  Did you ever try to wrap your arms all the way around a tree?  Did you wonder why there are holes in trees and what's inside them?  Did you ever imagine what the world would be like without trees?

This study builds upon children's interest in trees to help them explore science and social studies. It focuses on helping children develop an understanding of the characteristics of trees and their role in our ecosystem. During the study, children use skills in literacy, math, technology, and the arts to investigate and represent their knowledge about trees.

Room 2’s Tree Study Activity!🌳🎨 The students continued learning about the environment, by participating in a fun nature activity. They first collected twigs from trees in their outdoor area, then used white paint to color the twigs and place them to dry! 💡-(COG 11) Knowledge of the Natural World: With their class they focused on their “tree study” curriculum, by learning more about the different parts of a tree and why they are important.
